Yoga instructors are not to treat or diagnose any medical condition or illness, but rather to mindfully assist students in and out of yoga poses with awareness of any issues they may have shared. This can be accomplished with props, alignment principles, and knowledge of these special considerations.
These include – but aren’t limited to pregnancy, recent injuries, psychiatric disorders, high blood pressure, migraines, and more. This immersive workshop will outline the techniques and methods that can best serve instructors – and students – when special considerations are known in a yoga class.

Yoga for Better Posture
This immersion workshop acknowledges that it is truly all connected when it comes to proper posture and the spine! A misalignment in one part of the spine affects the position and proper function of the whole spine. There is usually a ripple effect in the entire spine, in fact, and it is often hard to tell where it started and what needs to be addressed first.
In this weekend workshop, we will discuss the optimal alignment of each part of the spine and how common daily activities can start to cause major stress and pain in a variety of ways.
Learn how to protect the spine in a yoga class and common ways the misalignments can show up in a variety of postures. As we know, if it shows up in one pose, chances are it shows up in most poses. We will also explore simple and effective cues and suggestions to help your students “feel” and “sense” that proper alignment and “joint stacking” so they have the internal knowledge and muscle memory of how to re-create that proper posture in and out of a yoga class!
Trainees will learn:
- the importance of the spine and its alignment as it relates to yoga
- different postures that support proper alignment of the spine as well as helpful cues to utilize during a yoga class
- when and how to use props and/or modifications to facilitate joint stacking
- common contraindicators that may be present for yoga students as well as how they may show up physically during a practice
- to write and teach yoga sequences and yoga asanas in a way that best supports the posture of the back and joint stacking
- how and when to incorporate props and/or modifications during a yoga class to support any contraindicators related to the back as well as mitigate discomfort during the class and how to cue in such a way that supports the natural curvature of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar parts of the spine
- the structure of the spine and how the natural curves support its proper function and movement and how different yoga postures can help keep the spine aligned and stable
- the skeletal structure of the spine and body with focus common misalignments and how they can cause stress and how that affects bones themselves

Join Leigh-Ann to see how we can use ancient science – and modern tools – to cultivate better sleep.
It’s no secret that Americans struggle to get enough sleep. In our fast-paced modern world, obstacles to proper rest (sleep and otherwise) abound. Most of us struggle to get enough good sleep, and this is especially true as we age – and during those acute phases of life such as having young children or the onset of menopause.
In this 2.5 hour workshop, you’ll learn yoga practices, breathing techniques, meditations like Yoga Nidra – and practical hacks to help support healthy, nourishing sleep.
Space is limited. To reserve your spot, register below.
Yoga for Hypermobility
Yoga for Hypermobility is somewhat of a misnomer, as those with hypermobility are often discouraged from practicing Yoga, due to the risk of injury it can pose.
However, as you’ll discover in this immersion workshop, certain types of Yoga – and ways of practicing – can help support individuals with hypermobility.
These students are often attracted to yoga because of their flexibility and ease in asana. However, they often don’t have the information needed to protect their bodies and can seriously injure themselves in practice.
To ensure safe classes for all students, Yoga teachers must become more aware of the prevalence of hypermobility in students, the tendency of people with it to be drawn to Yoga, and how they as instructors can foster safe practice for their students (and perhaps themselves).
The purpose of this immersion is to provide students with proper techniques and practices to facilitate proper alignment and movement for individuals who live with hypermobility. Students in this workshop will be better prepared to write sequences, provide good assists/adjustments, and helpful cues to ensure the strength and safety of class attendees.
The content of this workshop will be comprised of lecture/discussion/guided practice/peer teaching. This workshop will be taught by Leigh-Ann Renz. To learn more about her, click here.

It also maps the Yamas & Niyamas onto the Chakras, offering an opportunity to see deeper patterns in our understanding of Yoga philosophy and practice.
Due to the philosophical nature of the topic, the information will be mostly analytical learning; however, there will be exploration about how these principles can be applied to the practice of Yoga, both as a student and as a teacher.
