Black History Month: A Read Aloud Event
274 S Main St
Waynesville, NC 28786
USA
This month we honor Black History as our Nation’s History. Join us in engaging in reading poems from Black authors to learn, be inspired, and commit to something greater than ourselves.
The practice of Yoga goes beyond the Asana. Yoga is much greater than a movement, meditative, or breathwork practice. According to the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, there are 8 limbs of Yoga, the first being the Yamas, or Ethical Practices. The 5 Ethical Practices consist of the principles of how we relate to one another in personal relationships, communities, and as a society. It is important that we recognize and celebrate our interrelatedness and our uniqueness. It is important that we honor Black History Month.
At Waynesville Yoga Center, we are committed to honoring the many diverse backgrounds and cultures part of the Yogic community as well as our society. as a whole This month, we honor Black history, Black lives, and Black stories. We invite you to read any of the following poems from Black poets and join us at the end of the month for a community gathering and discussion.
