Find Your Zen

Join us for a hike on the Mountains to Sea and Green Mountain trails to an open grassy area in the Middle Prong Wilderness to get your yoga on.

The path was initially an old logging road with fairly easy terrain for the first 3/4 of the hike before it turns off and begins a steady climb through rocky, boggy areas for the last 1/4 of the hike.

There are several small stream crossings in the beginning and the path flows through beautiful high elevation forests of rhododendron and evergreens; it’s the perfect setting to find your zen.

Join Tara Scarborough to experience the best of all worlds: the breathtaking Smoky Mountains + killer yoga! Saturday, July 14th, 8AM – 2:30PM. $45 if you pre-register > $50 day of. Space is limited: to save yours, use the form below or register on our class calendar.

8:00: Meet at WYC for carpooling to trailhead.  (If you need to drive seperately, please contact the instructor for directions)

9:00- 10:30:  Hike to destination

10:30-1200:  Hour yoga class outside and break for snacks and personal time.

12:00-1:30:  Begin hike back.  Creekside break with 15 minute meditation by the stream.

Return to WYC around 2:30

*All times are estimates.  The outing may take longer or shorter depending on class dynamics.

How long is the hike?
3.8 miles round trip with a 403 ft elevation gain, mainly in the last 3/4 of a mile.

This is a wilderness area and bear habitat but it’s unlikely we will encounter any.

It’s about a 40 minute drive north on the Blue Ridge Parkway
What is the terrain like?
Mainly old logging roads with easy footing until the last 3/4 of a mile where it becomes rooty, narrower, and much steeper.
What about rain?
The hike is planned so that we should be done before afternoon storms hit but we are in the mountains and weather can be unpredictable.  In the case of an unsafe weather forecast, your money will be refunded.
