// Any of our classes labeled L:1 (Level 1) are appropriate for beginners, even if you’ve never tried yoga before. L: 1/2 means beginner – intermediate, meaning you should be familiar with standard yoga poses and are comfortable moving in and out of downdog (and up and down from the floor).
Check the level labels on class names to confirm which might be best to start with: click here for our class calendar.

// Yoga Basics: our signature five week series covers the basics of yoga. Now offered in Level 1, 2 and 3.
Yoga Basics Level 1 covers: seated, standing, and balance poses – and finishes with an introduction to vinyasa flow.
Yoga Basics Level 2 reviews what was covered in Level 1; deep dives into vinyasa flow; allows students to review their “struggle pose” and helps identify which classes might be best for your needs.
Yoga Basics Level 3 gives you a taste of a variety of yoga styles: Yin Yoga; Hot Stone Restorative; MERGE Movement; Flow + Ground; and Myofascial Release Yoga.
All 3 levels are taught in a small-class format, allowing plenty of time for questions and individual attention. Students are given guidance about which weekly classes might be good to explore as they gain confidence and comfort in their yoga journey.
// Yoga Basics Crash Course is a condensed version of the five week series, in a 90-minute workshop format. YBCC Level 1 covers seated, standing and balance poses; while YBCC Level 2 is geared to vinyasa flow. Click here to find our next YBCC seminars.

As soon as I saw Waynesville Yoga Center was opening, I came. I am so thankful to Jay for a place where I feel safe, not self-conscious, and where I can attend classes that benefit me without feeling in competition with anyone else. Restorative and Yin have improved my flexibility and meditation skills; Beginner Flow, Flow Level 1 and Gentle Chair Yoga have increased my strength and balance and also challenged me, as has Barre and Balance!
I feel better than I ever have – physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I have met so many new friends. All of the instructors I have had are wonderful and willing to share of themselves. Thank you, Jay, your endeavor is making a tremendous difference in so many lives!”
