Real Yoga for Real Bodies
The old philosophies of Yoga were that you use your body to get into a pose. That you aren’t a real yoga student or can’t be a legit yoga teacher if you can’t do a headstand or an arm balance or a full lotus. Sadly, some schools – and some teachers – still operate from this outdated “mind over matter” perspective.
Thankfully, times are changing; and these outdated dualistic philosophies are evolving into a framework that’s more grounded, balanced, and healthy. We’re proud & honored to be on this cutting edge of yoga’s evolution, understanding that Yoga is for everyone, regardless of age, weight, gender, experience, or level of flexibility!
We know in our bones that yoga is truly for everyone and every body. Our studio motto is “Real Yoga for Real Bodies”; and this informs every decision we make at Waynesville Yoga, including our teacher training. Jay & I love watching people who felt intimidated to try yoga blossom in their practice. We also love seeing people, who never believed they could they teach, find their stride as yoga instructors.
We’re so grateful that yoga itself is healing from its own wounds and imbalances. As it does, more & more of us are coming to understand that the purpose of the poses are to get into our bodies, not the other way around!
